Club News for 2010

Sept 2nd

		We had a good bunch of members show up to clean up the range today. Helping today were: Mark P. Frank S. Dave V. Steve V. Tom D. Mike H. Tim G. Bob M. We were able to remove a lot of trees. It really helped that Todd brought his skid loader and Mark brought his brother in laws grapple attachment for it. With a half a dozen chain saws cutting and the skid loader hauling brush we got a lot done. Thanks to all who made it happen!

• Stage planning, making them, fun, challenging and safe.  Good stages don't grow on trees.
• Setup, a few folks show up early each Tuesday even when its dam hot and haul out all the stage stuff and set them up and then sometimes go to the DQ
• Registration, someone has to get everyone registered for the match
• ROing during the match
• Stage take down - All the help is appreciated, especially if you can't come early, we need to give the setup folks a break
• Food cooking and clean up
• Range clean up- a few folks pick up any trash and putting things away
• Scoring the match
• Generating match reports and putting the match on the web site.
• And I'm sure I missed some things.

6/14/2010  3 Gun Setup - See you at the match

SCAPSA will host its annual 3-gun match this Saturday, June 19^th at 10:00 am. We will have 6 stages: 2 pistol, 2 rifle & 2 shotgun courses.

Set up will start at 2:00 pm on Friday. Please help if you can!

The GRRC Points match scheduled for Saturday, June 12^th has been CANCELED due to flooding at the range. Please pass this info to all shooters who might be shooting this match so that no one makes an unnecessary trip.

 4/15-2010 - Soup Shoot Info

St Cloud SCAPSA will host it's Spring Match on Saturday, April 17th at 10:00 am.

Expect a minimum round count of 145 in 5 stages (one of which will be a classifier stage).

Parking is limited so we recommend that you car pool if possible.

David  will be feeding us his corn chowder after the match and we will have rolls & coffee in the morning.

The weather forecast is warm and dry so it should be a good day for shooting.

Registration starts at 9  shooters meeting at 10:00

SCAPSA match at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 17^th.

Match set up starting at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 16^th.

SCAPSA spring league starts on Tuesday, April 20^th at 5:30 pm.

4/4/2010 Long Gun practice Tuesday April 6th

SCAPSA members,

We are going to have an informal long gun practice on Tuesday, April 6^th from 5:00 pm to dark. We will set up some simple courses of fire to work on our rifle and shotgun skills. At this time it is looking like we could get some rain so we will adjust the shooting to fit the weather situation.

This practice will be open only to 2010 members of SCAPSA. If your membership is current you should have received a separate e-mail with the new range lock combinations. If your membership is current and you did not get the new combination please contact me. Membership forms will be available at the range.

Bring your handgun along!

3/3/2010 - Don't shoot steel with a rifle

While setting up for the Blizzard Blast today we discovered that someone had shot several steel targets with a rifle. It appears that it was shot with steel core 7.62 X 39 (AK or SKS). Those targets are now unsafe to use as steel targets with dents will return lead to the sender.

Please NEVER NEVER shot steel with any rifle at SCAPSA!

We had our annual meeting.  Besides all the Pizza eating and awards we had the usual topics.

Bob's Shooters Email List Signup
Bob is rebuilding his shooters email list.  He sends out event emails, month schedules and other info for the shooting sports for MN and sometimes other areas.  If you would like to be added to his email list for the shooters info emails send an email and your full name to Join Bobs shooters email list.

Aug 30th 2009 - Bob recognized some people for their contribution to the SCAPSA Club along with all the other great folks we have help out this year at our last match of the year.  He forgot to mention someone,  himself.  Bob spends considerable time with just about everything be it the range, matches or league or his email list which he is rebuilding.  So I would like to publicly say thanks Bob for keeping SCAPSA running so smoothly and making 2009 a good year for the club and the fellow shooters.

SCAPSA Receives Recognition From The Local Law Enforcement Community
At the SCAPSA Blizzard Blast on March 7 2009, SCAPSA was presented with recognition of thanks for supporting the law enforcement community.  The following police departments presents SCAPSA with a plague or a framed certificate, they are listed in  alphabetical order:
